YLEN are proud sponsors & supporters of this program 👏🏽 we can’t wait to watch this years participants grow as individuals 💪🏽🤝🏽🚨Georgina Pastoral Future NTCA Drop🚨🤜🏻Introducing Ellie Gooch Ellie is currently running the stud camp at Newcastle Waters Station, she has always been passionate about the Australian Agriculture industry, and after completing her ag degree in NSW it was time to head up to the NT and gain further knowledge and experience in cattle production. Follow our conversation we had with Ellie, 👇👇🔅Ellie what skills do you believe are the most important when running a camp?Stockmanship, Communication and Patience 🔅In your eyes, a good leader possesses what 3 qualities?🔹A positive attitude and the ability to inspire others 🔹Good communication 🔹High expectations of themselves and their team as a whole🔅Why did you apply for the Georgina Pastoral Future NTCA program?I want to expand on my industry knowledge, meet leaders in the industry and help promote and support the NT pastoral industry.🔅How do you think the industry will change over the next five years?I don’t think there will be any significant changes in the next five years. I believe the Northern Pastoral Industry will remain competitive and sustainable, and therefore continue to supply high quality beef to our trade partners. 🔅Best piece of advice you have received?Don’t be afraid to stuff up.🔅Best piece of advice you would give someone wanting a start in the industry?Keep your eyes and ears open, observe, ask questions and have a go at anything.🔅On a day off we will find you doing what?Riding horses and talking to family🍴Last but most important question....Ellie what is your favourite meal for dinner?Lamb chops and veges. YLEN are proud sponsors & supporters of this program 👏🏽 we can’t wait to watch this years participants grow as individuals 💪🏽🤝🏽📣Georgina Pastoral Future NTCA DropJulia Harkin is located up in the Top End based at La Belle Downs Station out on the flood plains. 🐊 🦟⛈️ Julie is a AnimalHealth & Welfare Advisor for AACo. Let’s get to know Julie!👇👇👇🔸How did you get into the NT Beef industry? After graduating University I started with AACo in their Graduate program. I was exposed to all areas of the supply chain, including feedlotting, stations in the NT & QLD and corporate life. This experience cemented my passion for the industry and the Health & Welfare of animals, which led me to my current role in the NT beef industry. 🔸What Skills are most important in your job? People skills are critical, working with managers and other people in the industry allows me to make progress and succeed. 🔸How do you think the industry will change over the next 5 years? I would like to see in the next 5 years more commodity access available to pastoralists in the NT. I believe having commodities available for reasonable prices will make a world of difference in supporting feeding programs and improving growth and profits. 🔸Best piece of advice you have received? Don’t stress too much about where you’re going, work on where you’re at and you’ll end up where you want to be anyway. 🔸Best piece of advice you would give someone wanting a start in the industry? Give everything a go, connections are really important and finding people who will support you is critical. 🔸Favourite meal for dinner? Pad Thai🔸On a day off we will find you doing what? Most weekends I spend being dragged along fishing, often enticed by a pub lunch 👌🎣🔸Why did you apply for the Georgina pastoral Future NTCA program? I applied for the program as I’ve seen how great of an experience past NTCA members have had. I think it can provide great experience and build on skill’s to help build a career, and I am excited for the networking and developmental opportunities it will provide. 🔸In your eyes, a good leader possesses what 3 qualities?1.
